Sample Poem from the book

Life

In life, some things are the same

Some things are different

When things change, we don’t always like them

Change is not easy

It takes time to do things in a different way than we are used to

Always do your best

You have it inside you to do the best you can with everything you do

No one can stop you but you

No matter who you are or what you do, always remain to be you.

I’m the one who stood by his side when he had nothing and no one. When they told him he couldn’t be a pastor, it was I who said he could. Every major moment of his life I was there cheering him on. I moved away from my family and my home so he could follow his dreams. Never once did I complain, and this is the thanks I get?

Stacey got to the car, and realized that she didn’t want to even touch his car so she took the key to their home off of his key ring and threw the rest of his keys in the nearest puddle of mud.

Stacey, furious with herself for running out of the house, marched back inside, laughing, crying and screaming all in the same breath.

Storming into their master bedroom she walked up to Michael and slapped him.

"What the hell did you do that for?!"

"Hebrews 13:4." Was her reply and she turned and walked out.

Jumping up to find her and retaliate, he found his once quiet and submissive wife standing in the kitchen, holding a huge knife as if she was waiting on him.

"Looking for me, Mikey?"

He shook his head in disbelief. "Nah."

He ran out the room, mumbling to himself about where was his daddy's bible. Stacey always assumed that it was really a liquor bottle inside that giant family bible. It used to bother her when he would go towards it but now she could honestly care less.

"Found it!" And sitting next to the huge bible was the oversized brandy bottle disguised as an old worn thesaurus.

He cracked the old King James bible open turned it to Hebrews 13:4, and it read, "Marriage is honourable in all, and the bed undefiled: but whoremongers and adulterers God will judge.”

Reading it was like an additional slap in the face and a kick in the gut. He received a bout of conviction, or as he often told his congregation; "a pop upside the head from God."
